How to Listen to Please, Come Sit By My Fire

Looking for the simplest method? If you have an iOS (iPhone/iPad) or Android device, you can use the Castos app:

  • Download the Castos mobile app from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store
  • Open the Castos app and enter the same email address used to sign up
  • Tap Login, and enter the code that was sent to your email

If you are listening on a computer or different device, or don’t want to use the Castos app, read on.

Are you familiar with podcast RSS feeds? You can take your RSS link to the podcast player of your choice. You should have received your RSS feed URL in an email from us.

If not, don’t worry! Here are our suggestions for listening, depending on what type of device you are using. If you experience any trouble with listening, please let us know and we can help guide you through setting it up:

Apple computers – newer Mac (Catalina 10.15+) desktop or laptop:

  • Right-click or control+click your RSS link to get the option to copy it
  • Hold Command(⌘) and hit space to bring up spotlight search, begin typing “podcasts” until you see the program listed, and click it to open
  • At the very top of the screen, click File > and select Add/Follow a Show by URL… from the menu and paste in your link (at the very top of the screen, click Edit, and select “Paste” from the menu)
  • Go to Shows, under Library and the lecture series should be there

Apple iPhone (if not using the simpler Castos app, above):

  • Copy your RSS link (tap and hold on the link to get the option to “Copy Link”)
  • Open the Podcasts app (if it is not installed, look for Apple Podcasts in the app store)
  • Go to Library and click the More button (three dots in the upper right corner)
  • Select Follow a Show by URL… and then paste in your link (tap and hold the cursor to get the option to “Paste”)
  • Tap Follow
  • Go to Shows and you should find the lecture series now and be able to listen

Apple iPad (if not using the simpler Castos app, above):

  • Copy RSS link
  • Open “Podcasts” app (if you need to download, it is “Apple Podcasts” in App Store)
  • Go to Library
  • Tap the More menu (three dots) and select “Listen to a Show by URL…”
  • Paste link and tap Follow
  • Go to Shows and the lecture series should be there

For Linux, Chromebook and Windows users:

  • Use VLC Media Player. If you’re unsure what boxes to check during installation, uncheck them all.
  • Copy your RSS feed link
  • Open VLC Media Player (In Windows, open your Start menu and type “vlc” until it brings up the option to “Run Command”)
  • Scroll down to Podcasts in the left sidebar (if you do not see the sidebar, go to the View menu and select “Playlist”)
  • Hover over where it says Podcasts and then click the plus sign to add a new link
  • Paste in your link
  • The lecture series should show up underneath Podcasts; if it does not, click on Podcasts and it should appear

Older Apple computers, or Windows users who already use iTunes:

  • Use Apple iTunes if you already have it or are already familiar with it
  • Go to File>Subscribe to Podcast… and paste your RSS link
